Yesterday was just a spectacular day from start to finish......my messing up and needing to get those late tickets allowed for us to grab one of the most beautiful hikes I have ever taken.....we all loved it....it was only a mile from our motel, and it was this amazing gorge, with such cool features and views.....it was only in the 20s....but it didn't seem to make any difference....the sun shining made up for that and us moving...and we didn't even feel it , and it ended up being close to 4 miles.....the girls had a blast, flopping down and penguin sliding any chance they got....and it was just amazing.....we took our time, and hiked the afternoon away....and I am so grateful, and just in awe of the ease of our friendship with Kendall and Aub....they are OUR people.....when the 5 of us hang out it is effortless....like this lovely little friendship puzzle that makes sense in all the best ways.....and we just all get each other, and enjoy each other's company so much.... and I am so glad they joined us this weekend! Then we came back and got ourselves warmed up, had some snacks and hung out for a little bit......then we went to a later dinner reservation at this great little local spot......came back and got bundled up, and shoved some hot hands in key spots;-) and went to the Ice Castles! It was still pretty crowded at 10 which was surprising....and so cold...in the teens.......They had the Ice Castle part....which was so cool and beautiful....and you were walking through a sand kinda vibe the entire tim,e that was laden with rock salt....so it wasn't slippery at all....and we had so much fun exploring all the tunnels and walkways....and slides.....the girls went snow tubing, which they loved....and they had a restaurant and bar if you wanted to, and an additional sleigh ride which we didn't see......but our favorite part was their fairy walk....through the forest with the lights....it was truly magical in every sense of the word.......Mads was a little weepy for a little bit of it....it was coming up on 11:30, and it had been a LONG day lol:) But through some of her tears she just kept saying how much she loved it, and how amazing and magical it was:).....it was like walking in a dream......we said a little prayer in there and it was so special......and it was just one of those perfect days.....the ones that make you feel blessed to be a part of it all.....the ones that make you grateful to be alive and healthy, and awake to it all:) So we pack up this morning and head home.....I am going to get home pretty early this afternoon and get settled for the week.....and begin to look forward to my women's series tomorrow night on zoom, and just feel grateful and ready for it all! I am so glad I took the time to plan and execute this adventure.....adventure over things indeed:) We will all never forget this weekend, and that is what matters most! Happy Sunday:)
