8 days into my Pilates challenge.....

In preparation for my Fit February women's series, I decided to try a 28 day free pilates challenge on Youtube alongside my normal workout, to see what I thought, and to see if I could endorse it as one of the options for the women I will be working with. I plan on offering up lots of options for women, both at home and out in our community:)One of my friends is already trying it based on a recommendation when we had spoken last, so that feels good:) She is committed to the 28 days too! I am curious to see how she feels at the end of it. She doesn't exercise normally, so I will be curious of her results too! I will do day 9 today, and have completed 8 days of it. And I have to say that the workout is legit.....it is no joke.;-) Her name is Rachel, and her videos are Rachels Fit Pilates....and maybe she has done more than one challenge or something, because when you google the challenge on Youtube and the day you are on, a few options come up.....most of the days range from 15 to 25 minutes.....which is why I have kept my other workout too....I have grown accustomed to working out for at least 45 min, sometimes an hour depending....so I have modified my own routine and built this in.....in a way that compliments what I am doing.....So what has struck me already is that it would definitely be challenging for somebody that hasn't worked out before....You use the wall often, and the exercises challenge your strength and stability....a lot of core strength is needed......and I feel like my low back, my glutes, and my core are now pretty strong.....I have been doing glute bridges for the last three years, and in the last year finally pushed past my hatred of ab work, and sucked it up lol:) just like push ups not my favorite, but effective;-) so my core is strong, I even have my abs showing themselves these days, and I have found the exercises challenging....so I would imagine they would ask a lot of somebody just starting out....BUT.....they are in shorter bursts so they can be managed, and before you know it it is done, and you are on to the next exercise, and before you know it the time has gone by and you are done with the video, and by no means are her videos too challenging in a prohibitive way for a novice......I feel like what draws me in, and keeps me consistent with weight lifting now, and the other body exercises I do, or running and boxing is the intensity....I like that....and my body and mind like it.....and pilates is more controlled....slow....and a totally different vibe....requiring sort of a yoga type concentration, and it has taken a bit of adjusting for me....I don't think I could ever solely be a pilates gal;-) at least not in this stage of my life..... but I was thinking yesterday that I intend to keep some pilates in my normal routine.....intending on adding some of the exercises I have found super effective that she does in with what I am doing....my entire routine has been trial and error.....and some of what she does is super effective....for instance glute bridges on the wall one legged, most definitely up the challenge....she does lots of glute bride variations in her routines and they are so good and a lot of bang for your buck.....and also crunches with your legs on the wall table top, are a much more intense crunch for abs.....and there are plenty of 10 min routines out there that I may plug into when I am done with hers....Now for the results so far....I most definitely feel that I see some results already....more tightening and toning....so I think spending 28 days giving it a try would be worth anybody's time! I can't say for sure that it is solely the pilates because I have been tweaking my other workout, but it is definitely causing me to be sore the next day in ways I normally am not, so for sure it is working:) I had written about getting my diet turned around some too....my exercise allowing for some poor food choices at times and giving me leeway that is not always good lol:) And while I love eating healthy, love healthy foods, and meal prepping, I haven't been as disciplined about it as of late! SO I am ready to tackle that now, have a plan this week.....being more intentional in my day to day, and saving my indulgent foods for Sundays and moving them back into moderation:) If you are reading and looking to dip your toes into a workout....try her pilates challenge and see what you think! It might just be the thing you need to get started! Enjoy the day:)
